1. A group of Y1s will be chosen to become 'eggs' in this game. The rest of the class has to protect these eggs from the JPSL, PSLs and SPSLs.
2. The PSLs and SPSLs are to try to get past the class to get to the eggs. An “egg” will be eliminated once a PSL/SPSL touches them, and will have to get out of the circle. However, the Year 1’s can use their bodies to shield and protect the eggs from the PSLs and SPSLs.
Class 113'15 used this activity during the session on Teamwork Year 1s are to play this game in their support groups
Classic 102'12 used this activity for the session on Leadership.
"This activity's great because while it's really fun, it also allows the year 1s to get the chance to lead their peers which they might not always get to do or feel comfortable doing! They'll also be able to realise that sometimes you cannot lead alone-sometimes you do need support and help from other fellow leaders/your followers to be a good leader! Classic 102'12 used this game for the session on Resilience. The group will be standing on a tarp. The objective is to flip the tarp over without anyone stepping off the tarp. They will not be given any time before the game to strategise. During the game, only one person will be allowed to speak at any one time; anyone who wants to speak must raise their hand first. If more than one person speaks at any one time, or anyone steps off the tarp, the students will have to start all over again. (They will have to play the Rearrangement Game again; they will be given a different requirement to arrange themselves according to from what they were given the first time)[1] Here's what they said after conducting the game: "I really liked the activity because it provided an appropriate level of challenge. (they have to start over) However if classics want to do this, they must take note of the venue --- we did this in the classroom, and it was squeezy! I suggest doing this maybe at the Koi Pond :)" 102'12 Classic used this game for the session on Resilience. The group will have to stand in a single row, arranging themselves according to the requirement given. (i.e. birthday- the oldest person at the front and the youngest at the back)
They will not be allowed to speak during this activity, thus will only be able to communicate through hand signs. If anyone speaks, the requirement will be changed (eg. shoe size, primary school alphabetical order). After they have arranged themselves, PSLs to check if the order is correct. If the order is wrong, the students will have to start all over again) Classic 101'12 used this game as an Ice breaker and an introduction to the topic, Class Spirit.
3. PSLs to go around group by group to time how long each groups takes to accomplish the task. 4. PSLs to ask each group after timing them if that was the best strategy and ask if they want to retry. 5. Then, give them more time to strategise. 102'12 Classic used during a session on Class Spirit. during the Here's what they said: "This activity allowed the students to think of the traits they each valued the most, hence serving as an effective tool to bring across the topic to the students. Also, since it required them to walk around, it was engaging (:"
Classic 107'12 used this in their last session as a fun and meaningful way for everyone to reflect. It was very sweet when the Year 1s hugged whilereturned each other's airplanes in a chain and fostered the sense of togetherness. - PSLs will give each Year 1 a piece of coloured paper and ask them to sit in a circle.
- Year 1s will have to write down answers to the three questions that will be asked. - Once they are done, they will fold it into a paper plane and write a pen name on the plane. - The planes will then be thrown inside the circle, and each Year 1 is supposed to take another person’s paper plane. - Then, one person will read out what was written on the plane she received, and then call out the pen name of the person who wrote it. She will return her the plane and give her an encouraging hug. - This process goes on with the person who’s plane has been read out, as she will have to read out what was written on the plane she received. This will go on until everyone’s plane has been read out. |
